WENDY'S WHISPER BOUQUETS

No one could make me laugh like Wendy.

And laughter is my best medicine!

She gave our flower business it’s name Anne E's.
Her long arms loved to hug me, she was only 5’10" & I was all of 5'3".
Her shoulder was cried on more often than I want to remember.
We double dated, married, had children, divorced & held each other as our parents and siblings left this earth.
She told me we could never say good bye, only, “See ya!"

I spent the weekend trying to release my struggle with not being with her, as she said she’d be with me when my time came, "Cuz I'm your family, sister!"

Wendy slipped away early yesterday morning.  Doing it her way, as babies of a family like to do, with her husband, who she told me had become her everything, always supporting her decisions, during her last months.

This whisper bouquet of two roses for two sisters of three mothers, surrounded by sweet peas for the laughter & sweet memories we shared.  Two shy girls meeting at 12 & 14, BFFs for 54 years.  What I’d give for one more laugh!

FRONT DOOR HONOR MARKET OPEN TODAY AT 8 a.m.
We have made a dozen Whisper Bouquets
Our proceeds will go to the charity designated by Wendy to honor her, this imperfect woman, as we all are, of steel & humor.  This photo is of the first.

Each morning we'll pick more as the blooms come on.  Each one will be different as Wendy & I were.
And as each of us is.

Buy a bouquet, they’ll be priceless "Whisper Bouquets from Wendy", so name your price.  Then give it to someone & whisper,
“ Wendy says to tell you I love you."

Cancer Sucks!  Don't Smoke!  Stop if you do!  Don't ever start if you don't!  #whatsthepoint
It hurts even those who never took a puff and leaves a hole in the heart of those left behind.

To cover our costs we are suggesting a $15 minimum donation.
Please come by and honor your friends while helping me honor mine.
Email if you do not have our address

WISH YOU WELL

WHAT'S IN SEASON: FRUITS + FLOWERS = FRONT DOOR HONOR MARKET SEASON

However you celebrated this past week be it Passover, Easter or Spring we hope it was meaningful and with those who celebrate you!

Thank you to all who came to our first Yarden Sale and Party.
We raised almost $400 for Seeds For Autism and The Joy Bus from
selling gently used yard and garden goods.   All the while gardeners talked gardens & gardening while enjoying baked delights from Joyce of @Mother Birdie & Laura of @Picket Fence Pastries!

So now it is
TIME FOR
FRONT DOOR HONOR MARKET SEASON
TOMORROW, FRIDAY, APRIL 6
8 a.m. until 80 Degrees
EMAIL OR DM OUR IG ACCOUNT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE ADDRESS

Citrus Season is almost over.  Our citrus tend be later than other parts of the Valley due to our colder nights.  The Minneola Tangelos have been too good to be true.  Juicy, sweet and just the right amount of tart.  They peel so easily when ripe and have such a beautiful deep color.

Remember that the Vitamin C in citrus rapidly degrades when exposed to air, light and heat.  Always  buy and keep citrus that has been kept cool and out of the sun.  As well you should be sure to store it the same.
Did you know the tangelo is a result of a random cross between a tangerine and a grapefruit?!  Citrus can be promiscuous.

Minneola Tangelo

We were asked why we sell our citrus with a stem.  Ripe tangerines and tangelos will be a bit soft and easily tear from their stems, leaving a tiny hole where the stem attached.  This allows light, air, insects and bacteria into the fruit.
In the stores you often find fruit that was picked "young", "green" or unripe.
This is to enable it to ship more easily without lose from damage or damage to the stem area.
Unfortunately, unlike tomatoes, citrus does not ripen once it has been harvested.  For the best tasting, most nutritious citrus choose ripe fruit that has been kept cool and out of the light.

While the tangelos are almost gone we do still have delicious grapefruit!  This grapefruit can be eaten out of hand and does not need sugar, no bitterness... makes a great addition to salad and drinks.

Additionally our Pink Lemons are still producing.  We have fallen quite hard for these.  The tree has variegated cream, ivory and green leaves.  The fruit has pink flesh when mature.  The zest is thin without bitterness.  When young this lemon has green stripes that fade to almost pale orange when mature.   The juice is plentiful, balanced and lemony!
The buds are purple which makes for a very attractive tree!

The winter flowers are on their way out:
Daffodils, tulips, stock, ranunculus, pink jasmine, freesia, Dutch iris and anemone.  Order soon in mixed bouquets, before they are gone until next Spring.

The once a year stunning penstemon are almost finished.
We'd love to introduce you to these.  They make magnificent arrangements, lasting at least 4-5 days with average care.  Most of ours are the large variety.  Some of them stand her 5 feet tall.  From three starts of pastel pink plants we now have dozens of plants in coral, pastel pink, violet, rose pink, cherise, and red, plus one bicolor.  We have yet to capture a photo that does them justice.  In person they elicit oohs & awes.  Their only fragrance seems to be a bit nutty.  Order now before they are gone for another year.

The roses are just starting though it will be a few weeks before they are plentiful.  We are trialing a few new ones and will let you know when they start to look promising.
We made
Full Moon White Rose Water Essence.
Last year we used several colors and made them in the sun light.  It made a refreshing spritz during the sweltering summer.  This time we used only our white "Bolero" roses.  The fragrance is scrumptious, just like the Bolero rose.

We already knew it would be lovely as a refreshing toner.  Now we know that it tastes divine, none of the bitterness we have experienced with other steam distilled rose waters.  If you come to an honor market ask to try some of our delicate and refreshing Full Moon Rose Water.

Our 2017 Olive harvest was pressed into oil.  It is filtered so initially appears a bit cloudy but is chock full of all the nutrients it has to offer.  As the sediment settles to the bottom the oil becomes more and more clear amber to green.  We can't get enough of it!  We actually harvested two times and so there is a slight difference between the two.  Both so flavorful we recommend using it as a dip, dressing, marinade or finishing oil to enjoy the flavor to the max.
It will be available next week in limited quantities.
Email us or send a DM thru our IG account for pricing and so we can decant and have it ready for you.

Also up next is Sweet Peas & Lavender.  We have had one bush bloom of the third time this year and her stems sold immediately.  More is on the way.

In the meantime our bar-b-qua rosemary is so tender and succulent.
Perfect for grilling and roasting as well as using in a cocktail
or to decorate a platter of roasted veggies, fish or meats.

Flowers make a space come alive.  They needn't be expensive or extravagant.  The simple clean examples below can all be yours.  We also delight in helping you plan a cutting or fruiting garden or create an arrangement.

Our Dutch Iris, white & yellow, are especially well suited to contemporary homes and offices.  So don't think we don't have you covered.

2 DAYS & 3 SLEEPS Left Until Our First YARDEN PARTY & SALE

HAPPY FIRST (OR SECOND) DAY OF SPRING

We hope y’all have been busy cleaning the garden sheds, barns, greenhouses and garages so you can bring some “stuff” to the sale.  If “it” lives, plays or works outside in your yard or garden then “it” is welcome.  So that would include dog houses, buckets, rakes, hoes, compost containers, potting benches, wall plaques, lanterns and that roll of drip irrigation
(that you bought too much of)
or “what not".

See what happens when you get your gardening act together?!  You feed a family of four!

Dividing your clumps of aloes, succulents, or "what not”, but you have no room at the inn, bring it here.  We may be offering Lemons and Lemon Grass as well as oranges, tangelos, grapefruit.  Juicy, Juicy, Juicy.  And remember flu season isn’t over yet so we all still need to mind our heath and fresh Vitamin C and “what not” are a good starts.

The Variegated “Pink Lemonade" Lemon

While roses are yet to bloom we do have a few flowers, mainly bulbs and pink jasmine.  If they make it through the predicted 90* on Thursday (Really?!) we’ll offer a few of those too.  We are donating our profits and if you choose to donate some of yours, you may donate yours to whatever organization you choose.  Remember there is no fee to sell here.  We just want to celebrate Spring by having good dirty fun with other gardeners, while getting our gardens cleaned up.

Mother Birdie and Picket Fences will be baking fresh on Thursday to bring on Friday.

See photos of their deliciousness on Instagram
@motherbirdie
&
@picketfencepastries
And Mama will be bringing her Cold Brew (we’re hoping for some Irish Creme).  Check her out on
@mamascoldbrew

(Bring Your Own Bags)
Or purchase a beautiful, well made tote from "Oh So Enchanting

These four women turn a yard & garden sale into a YARDEN PARTY BYOB

If you’ll just be shopping we’ll see you at 9.  No early birds please.  If you’ll be bringing some  “what not” you must RSVP so we can coordinate AND you may start setting up any time after 7 so long as you are ready to go by 8:45ish.

While the rest of the country deals with real weather, we may ( 20-30% chance)  get rain between 11 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.  We’ll do a rain dance because we really need the rain but our best guess is that IF we get any, it will be light and before the YARDEN SALE.  If you are unsure Thursday morning check your favorite weather app and look at the radar.  Watching radar can give you an idea if the rain is over for an area or till moving in.  You may toss an umbrella in the car, just in case.
It can be your good luck charm.

In the highly unlikely chance you think we may have to cancel check our blog and Instagram for the announcement
after 8-8:30 a.m.

YARDEN SALE: MARCH 23, FRIDAY, 9 - NOON SAVE THIS DATE

GOOD GLORIOUS MONDAY MORNING, GARDENERS!

Tis the season to be planting, Fa La La La La, La La La La!
We’re planning for a green Spring time just like the spring we used to know.

So many holidays are over with a few yet to come.
These are the holidays to be celebrated outdoors in your Yard & Garden, your Yarden!
If you’re looking to spiff up your Yarden this is the time to plant!
And if your spiffing includes changing your tools, pots, plants, bird feeders, houses & baths, hummingbird feeders, bee hives, bee keeping tools, books, fountains, furniture, art and whimsy
then we have an event for you.

Want to find a new home for your garden gnome bring it.  Want to find a new table and chairs, come find it.
Been propagating your plants, bring ‘em.  Want to discover something shabby to paint, it may be here.

We will be sponsoring this pop-up YARDEN SALE where you can bring your gently used and vintage Yarden goods to sell, or trade with other gardeners.  You may be a vendor or shopper or both.  Vendors will be responsible for all of their own set up, sales and clean up.  No charge to be a vendor, no childcare or public restrooms available and you will be responsible for getting the word out to your family, and farm & gardening friends.

The YARDEN SALE will take place at Tre Soli
in the front circle drive, under the mesquite trees.
You may begin to set up at 7 a.m. and be ready to go by 8:45.  For everyones safety we will not let shoppers roam and shop early while you are setting up.  You may bring a tent but it is not necessary, though tables are required.

We love our residential neighborhood that has no sidewalks.  At any given time with many walkers, bicyclers, runners, strollers, dogs, children and wheelchairs enjoying the street we ask you to use great care and not to be distracted while driving here.  Please respect our neighbors safety and do not park in or block their driveways, even if they have a circle drive.  Also do not pull up the curb and onto yards or in front of utilities.
This is an older (by AZ standards) neighborhood and we regularly have utility crews here.

For everyone’s enjoyment we have arranged to have cold brew coffee as well as baked goods to be available for purchase.  Don’t want you to miss breakfast all together!  There will be receptacles for Compostables and Recyclables, please encourage each other to use them.    If you or any shoppers find they need a tote for their finds we have also arranged for “Oh So Enchanting” to bring her mix & match upholstery weight fabric totes with water resistant lining.  Check them out even if you don’t find a Find, you’ll be ready for the next time you do.  Be sure you bring your water, comfy shoes, & chair, sun protection should be minimally necessary due to the shade provided by the trees.

If you just want to shop we look forward to seeing you between 9 & Noon at
Tre Soli
8103 N 75th Street, Scottsdale

If you want to be a vendor you need to RSVP to this email with a list of likely items you’ll bring so that we can send you further details, arrange for you to come view the site and review procedures.

We hope to make this casual fun for everyone.  Don’t hesitate to ask questions.  We’re open to suggestions.

We will be donating our proceeds to charity.
We hope you will decide to donate some of yours.
